Bangladesh faces major health challenges.Diseases like stroke, paralysis,senile dementia, Parkinsonism, spinal cord injury, neuropathy and brain tumor are increasing on trend. To mitigate the sufferings as well as to prevent the trend of patient’s going abroad for better treatment the present government of Bangladesh has established “National Institute of Neurosciences” at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. This was inaugurated by Her Excellency Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 12th September 2012. On the same day it started delivering services in the field of Neurosciences.This is the first such specialized hospital in neurological sector in Bangladesh, which has been established with 6 most modern operation theaters, 16-bed ICU, 12-bed HDU, 6-bed Recovery Unit and 12-bed post-operative rooms. The hospital is equipped with most modern radiology and imaging department, two MRI machine for modern DTI, functional MRI and MECG examination. A specialized outdoor department for epilepsy, neurodegenerative and neuro-metabolic and other neuro treatment of children, treatment and rehabilitation of autistic children and facilities of genetic counseling are available in the hospital. Since the inauguration of NINS, data show 1, 69,812 patients in outdoor department, 7000 patients in indoor department were given treatment by the renowned doctors of the institute.We have 24 hours international standard lab facilities where all the necessary investigations can be done with govt.fixed rate. NINS & H has 24 hours emergency department with emergency operation theater. There are 6 consultants EMO with 6 Medical Officer working in Emergency department. We have world class neuro rehabilitation unit equipped with all modern physiotherapy instruments. We hope to extend our services in the near future from home to abroad.We also aspire that this will act as a model health institute not only for Bangladesh but also for the whole world.

Personal Profile
Prof. Quazi Deen Mohammad was born in Luxmipur, Faridpur. He passed SSC from Faridpur Zilla School and HSC from Faridpur Rajendra College with high distinction. After graduation from Dhaka Medical College in the year 1978 he entered into training in medicine in DMCH & the then IPGMR. He passed FCPS (Medicine) in 1983 from Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons (BCPS) and MD (Neurology) in 1994 from Dhaka University. He did fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology in University Hospital Madison USA in 1989. He received honorary FCPS in 2004 from College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). He worked as Professor of Neurology in DMCH since 1996. He was Principal in DMC from January 2004 to January 2012. Afterwards he joined as Founder Director of National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital (NINS&H). He is the current President of BCPS.
